SEBI writes to IRDAI to include investors' insurance details in consolidated account statement
SEBI is exploring the inclusion of insurance details in the Consolidated Account Statement, aiming to give investors a more comprehensive view of their financial assets alongside planned additions of bank deposits and pension savings.

Mumbai: SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey on Thursday said the market regulator has written to the insurance sector watchdog, IRDAI, to explore including insurance policy information in the Consolidated Account Statement .The move aims to expand CAS beyond securities market investments and create a comprehensive financial ledger covering stocks, mutual funds, bank deposits, pension savings and insurance policies."I have also written to the IRDAI chairman to explore the inclusion of insurance information so that investors can have a financial ledger covering their investments," Pandey said on the sidelines of the Samvaad India Open Finance Summit 2026.Earlier this month, the Reserve Bank of India said it would facilitate SEBI-regulated depositories in including bank deposit information in CAS.Addressing the event, the SEBI chief said the market regulator is also working to facilitate the inclusion of bank deposit information in electronic CAS through the Account Aggregator framework. This would help investors gain a more comprehensive view of their financial assets by bringing bank deposit information alongside their existing securities market investments."Going ahead, interoperability among Account Aggregators, once implemented, would enable investors to access and share financial information more seamlessly, without being constrained by the contractual relationship between a particular FIP and a particular AA. The recent announcement by RBI on interoperability is therefore a welcome step," Pandey said.He said the Account Aggregator framework could help integrate financial information across products, allowing investors to get a consolidated view of their portfolios and facilitating financial planning.Information on demat and non-demat holdings, mutual funds and stocks held across brokers was already available through CAS, Pandey said, adding that pension-related information was also being integrated.
Insurance information could be added to the framework, subject to the necessary arrangements and customer consent.Meanwhile, speaking at the Financial Express Modern BFSI Summit 2026, Pandey said SEBI is undertaking a comprehensive review of the Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements framework to make it more contemporary and streamlined. The regulator has proposed stronger monitoring of issue proceeds to improve transparency and accountability. Further proposals are aimed at easing business operations and simplifying compliance without compromising investor protection. SEBI is also reviewing the SME IPO framework to help genuine enterprises raise capital while protecting investors, he said.SEBI is also developing a market-making framework to improve liquidity in the secondary corporate bond market and plans to widen retail access through regulated online bond platforms.
Reviews of short-selling and the Securities Lending and Borrowing Mechanism are aimed at improving liquidity and price discovery. In the second phase of its Demat 2.0 initiative, the regulator plans to enable secondary-market trading of tokenised corporate bonds. It is also exploring an artificial intelligence sandbox to test applications in a controlled environment, he added.
